With temperatures warming
up and summer just around the corner, there's no time like the present to begin
planning your summer activities in Brooklyn. Whether you want to enjoy an
afternoon relaxing outdoors or you are looking for the latest groovy bands to
listen to while enjoying dinner, this summer is packed full of great events
that will be enjoyed by everyone. So get out your calendar and begin planning
what your summer itinerary will be.
Outdoor Fest 2016 – June 10 through 19
As part of your summer plans, you are sure to want to enjoy the great outdoors. Just because Brooklyn can be crowded sometimes doesn't mean that you can't enjoy the great outdoors right here in the city. So stop worrying about urban claustrophobia and get to Outdoor Fest where you can enjoy kayaking, camping, yoga and even a 5k marathon with your fellow Brooklynites. For more information, visit www.outdoorfest.com.
Plan to Visit a Local Swimming Pool
In addition to enjoying the great outdoors at Outdoor Fest, get outside and enjoy swimming at a local swimming pool. Brooklyn has a ton of great pools where you can enjoy a refreshing dip that will rejuvenate the senses and have you ready for more summer fun. For more information, see the New York City Parks page on Brooklyn's pools at www.nycgovparks.org.
Take The Kids to The Butterfly Boogie – June 26
After you've enjoyed the great outdoors and swimming, plan on spending some time with the kids over at the Brooklyn Bridge Park where the Wildlife Theatre presents the Butterfly Boogie. This fun-filled event will show you why bugs are some of the most awesome creatures around and will take you on a journey of over 3,000 miles as musical and interpretive programs show kids how plants and animals depend on one another around the world.
